In addition, in collaboration with the local business units and employees of the Zurich Insurance Group (Zurich), the foundation has launched various local fundraising campaigns around the world to invite contributions from the community, including suppliers, distributors, customers and the general public.

“There is a global movement that is ensuring that everyone has a chance to be protected from COVID-19, and we applaud everyone who has supported them through our own initiative or others. Every commitment counts to ensure equal access to vaccinations, ”says Gregory Renand, head of the Z Zurich Foundation.

UNICEF and its partners have worked on a vaccination procurement and delivery program to vaccinate frontline health and social workers, as well as people at risk and vulnerability around the world.

Through the COVAX Facility – together with GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, WHO and CEPI – UNICEF is leveraging its unique experience as the world’s largest single vaccine buyer by working with manufacturers and partners in the procurement and delivery of COVID-19 vaccines.

“As citizens in affluent countries begin to return and resume their lives in a post-vaccine world, the future for low-income countries is still uncertain as vaccines are introduced slowly and unevenly,” said Carla Haddad Mardini, director of the Private sector fundraising and partnerships at UNICEF.

“UNICEF welcomes this expanded commitment by the Z Zurich Foundation to continue to collect valuable resources and support us in our mission to deliver COVID-19 vaccines where they are most needed.”

UNICEF is also working regionally and globally with WHO, PAHO, GAVI and other partners to help countries prepare for their COVID-19 vaccine launch – including assessing capacities and helping countries strengthen their cold storage capacities and supply chains. to ensure that countries have adequate infrastructure for the transport and storage of vaccines.
