Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey reiterates a constructive outlook on Bitcoin tipping throughout earnings name

Back in September, Twitter was the first major social media platform to introduce Bitcoin Tipping (BTC), allowing users to send BTC directly to their favorite content creators via the website’s native front end. The company also allowed users to send their BTC over the Bitcoin Lightning Network for near-instant turnaround times.

In response to an analyst question about how cryptocurrencies are tied into the company’s overall global strategy, Dorsey said the following during the company’s third-quarter conference call Tuesday:

“It [Bitcoin tipping] allows much more speed. Both tip subscriptions are new. These are products that we want to make sure we started small again and find the right product that people want to hold onto and that they evaluate every day. And then we will make it available to more and more people, scale it and iterate the product further. “

Dorsey believed the company could at some point incorporate bitcoin tipping into corporate initiatives, such as partnering with advertisers on the platform. The number of monetizable users on Twitter rose year-on-year by 13% to 211 million worldwide.

Earlier this month, the financial services platform Square, also founded by Dorsey, announced plans to build an open source Bitcoin mining ecosystem. At the time, Dorsey stated the company’s goal was to further decentralize Bitcoin in order to increase the technology’s distributed resilience.
