The ‘finest job in America’ pays as much as $125,000 a 12 months — and has 10,000 job openings
Most people want to find a job that can keep up with inflation and offer some degree of work-life flexibility, but they also want to be happy. After all, most Americans work at least eight hours a day – and often without paid time off.
It’s the $ 125,000 question in an increasingly unpredictable job market: how can you have it all? Is there a job that brings a six-figure income, high job satisfaction and enough job offers?
Workers quit their jobs at a record pace in November, suggesting that people are fed up. The number of layoffs rose by 370,000 in November to a record 4.5 million. The “churn rate” rose from 2.8% in October to 3%.
At the same time, the job vacancies fell on the last day of November by 529,000 to 10.6 million, the Ministry of Labor announced this week. Economists polled by the Wall Street Journal had forecast an increase to 11.1 million jobs.
Computer scientists are still in demand
Companies are always interested in using Intel to improve efficiency and learn more about their customers. That is why computer scientists are in great demand. They are also one of the privileged professions to have the opportunity to work remotely.
Java developers were # 1 in Glassdoor’s “50 Best Jobs in America” for 2021. They typically work for startups that focus on developing web applications for marketing and executing existing customer orders, it says the careers website.
They boast a salary range of $ 69,000 to $ 125,000 and have an average annual base salary of more than $ 93,000. They had a job rating of 4.2 out of 5.0 and there are approximately 10,103 open positions for Java developers.
Java developers ideally have a bachelor’s degree in computer science with a professional IT certification and need expert-level Java programming as well as experience in database management and computer architecture.
Data scientists were # 2 on the list
This was followed by Data Scientists in second place ($ 113,736 median annual base salary) and product managers in third place ($ 121,107), Enterprise Architects in fourth place ($ 131,361) and Devops Engineers in fifth place ($ 110,003).
Data scientists and software developers use programming languages such as Python, followed by R, SQL, Hadoop and the more popular Java. Product managers are responsible for the strategy and design of a product or line of products.
An enterprise architect is responsible for a company’s entire IT infrastructure, while a devops engineer is well versed in both engineering and coding, creating and implementing system software and improving existing systems.
These positions as computer scientists are in great demand across industries, say career advisors, especially at companies from Silicon Valley such as Meta FB, -0.20%,
Alphabet Googe, -0.40% GoogL, -0.53% and Microsoft MSFT, + 0.05%,
among many others.
There are three factors that determine Glassdoor’s score
The “Glassdoor Job Score” is determined by weighting three factors equally: earning potential (median annual base salary), overall satisfaction with the work and the number of vacancies. C-suite and intern jobs were excluded from this report.
For a job title to be considered, a minimum of 100 salary reports and at least 100 job satisfaction ratings must be shared by U.S. employees in a year. The results represent job titles that have a high priority in all of these three categories.
Computer scientists have competition. A separate US News & World Report report on the year’s best jobs lists medical assistants as # 1 ($ 112,260 median salary and 39,300 job openings). Software developers were No. 2.
The definition of “best jobs” in this report may sound familiar: “They pay well, challenge us year after year, match our talents and skills, are not too stressful, offer career opportunities and offer a satisfactory working life balance.”
