Mitt Romney: President Trump’s push to overturn the election is ‘actually unhappy’ and ’embarrassing’
“He’s leaving Washington with a whole bunch of conspiracy theories and things so crazy and insane that people shake their heads and wonder what on earth got into this man.”
This is Utah Republican Mitt Romney, speaking on Sunday morning in an interview with CNN about President Trump’s attempts to undo his loss to President-elect Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
“It’s not going to happen,” Romney explained. “I understand the president is trying to find a way to get a different outcome than what the American people gave, but it’s really sad and embarrassing in many ways.”
Biden won the election with 306-232 in the electoral college and more than 7 million in the referendum. Trump, however, continues to push claims of widespread electoral fraud, even though many in the GOP, including Romney, have repeatedly said that there is no evidence to support him.
“The president could be writing the final chapter of this administration with a round of victories on the vaccine,” said Romney. “He could go out and work for this extraordinary success. Instead … this final chapter suggests what it will be known for. “
