Marsh McLennan makes swathe of key management adjustments
Glaser commented on the appointment that Doyle was an “indispensable partner” for him and an essential part of the company’s success. Marsh has performed well under his leadership, he said, citing several years of accelerated sales growth and record new business. Glaser also emphasized that at Marsh McLennan, Doyle had established a stronger than ever culture of engagement, inclusion and diversity among colleagues.
“With John in this new role, we have added leadership focus on our strategic and operational priorities across the company,” he said, “which gives us the opportunity to unlock more potential across our organization.”
Martin South, President of Marsh USA and Canada, will succeed Doyle as Marsh President and CEO. He has also been named Marsh McLennan’s Vice Chairman and will join Marsh McLennan’s Executive Committee. South, who has more than 30 years of global insurance experience, previously served as CEO for Marsh’s Asia Pacific, Marsh UK & Ireland and Marsh Europe, among others.
Meanwhile, Dean Klisura, President of Guy Carpenter, has been named President and CEO of Guy Carpenter to succeed Peter Hearn. He was also elected Marsh McLennan’s vice chairman and will succeed Hearn on the Marsh McLennan Executive Committee. Prior to joining Guy Carpenter last year, Klisura spent nearly three decades at Marsh, holding executive positions in Marsh’s Global Placement and Advisory Services and Global Specialties businesses.
Peter Hearn, who is currently the CEO of Guy Carpenter, will continue in his role as Marsh McLennan’s Vice Chairman, focusing on sales and peer development initiatives. He will continue to report to Glaser. Dominic Burke, Marsh McLennan’s vice chairman, will retire in mid-January. Burke, the former CEO of Jardine Lloyd Thompson (JLT), joined Marsh McLennan for the first time after acquiring JLT in 2019.
Regarding Burke’s retirement, Glaser said, “On behalf of the entire company, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Dominic for his leadership in making our combination with JLT, the largest acquisition in our company’s history, a win-win for our customers. for our company and for our colleagues. “
Glaser also thanked Hearn for his exceptional guidance from Guy Carpenter. During his tenure, Guy Carpenter achieved record financial results and maintained a strong corporate culture. He noted that he looked forward to the continued contributions Hearn will make to Marsh McLennan as vice chairman.
