M.I.A. on Crypto, Assange and Her New Album

I’ve always seen the “Vicki Leekx” mixtape as a work of art and not a piece of music, simply because it was very random, of everything and events that were going on in the world. It just basically happened. Also, I did the “Maya” album and it got really bad reviews from everyone and everyone said, “Oh my god, this is the worst album she’s ever made, she completely lost it.” And then I did “Vicki Leekx” and everyone thought, “Oh my god, that should have been the album, it’s the best ever, that’s the magnum opus of music at the time.” And I think it was more like that for me do that it was part of a collective experience of what was going on in the world.
