Specialty Brokerage Risk Strategies announced the acquisition of Oregon-based Fournier Group, a full-service insurance agency for commercial and personal lines. The terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The Fournier Group is headed by President Greg Kuhns. The company is consistently named one of the “100 Best Companies to Work For in Oregon” by Oregon Business and has particular expertise in the hospitality, dining, entertainment and aviation industries.

The company founded by the late Dirk Fournier has made a name for itself in the region as an expert in gastronomy and the hospitality industry. In 2018, Fournier Group acquired Aircraft & Marine, a Washington state-based aviation insurance agency. The following year, the Fournier Group acquired Cashwood Insurance Agency and expanded its expertise in entertainment insurance as well as in New York and California.

“We believe culture and expertise are equally important to success,” said John Scroope, national director of retail operations for Risk Strategies. “At Fournier Group, we see great people who are smart, dedicated, caring, and have vast expertise that contributes to important existing practices while adding valuable new depth and knowledge in others.”

“When looking for the right partner to continue our business and our founding vision, the specialized approach and cooperative focus of Risk Strategies really stood out,” said Kuhns. “Risk Strategies had the desired competence focus, but we were equally impressed by the quality of the employees and the integrative, cooperative culture that we found at all levels of the organization.”
