Attorneys’ group sues Lloyd’s over declare denial
The largest association of plaintiffs attorneys in the United States is suing their insurer.
The American Association for Justice is suing Lloyd’s of London for denying a $ 1 million coverage claim after the association’s 2020 annual conference was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to a Reuters report. The lawsuit was filed in federal court on Monday.
Lloyd’s has not responded materially to the association’s claims. Troutman Pepper Hamilton Sanders, the insurer’s law firm, did not respond to a request for comment, Reuters reported.

Over the past year, a number of lawsuits have been filed against insurers for denying COVID-19-related claims – often by companies saying their business interruption protection should cover the closure of pandemics.
